News 19 April 2006
Finally we have 3 days left for the 2006 Championship – we are (very) busy arranging everything for your arrival and for a weekend of good fights, sportsmanship and fun !
In this mail we will try to summarize latest news.
Transportation from/to Copenhagen (Kastrup) Airport is on your own responsibility unless otherwise agreed. The transportation package covers transport hostel-Ballerup Super Arena (competition hall) and back Saturday and Sunday. Transportation for the Sunday Party is included in the party fee.
However – transport from/to airport-hostel is straight forward and cheap compared to hired coaches. We have attached a transportation guide, which contains all information you need for a safe, easy journey.
The busses leaves 08:00 sharp Saturday and Sunday morning from the hostel to the competition hall – Ballerup Super Arena.
We have arranged transport for everyone on both days.
Pls. observe its a hostel not a hotel. So do not expect fancy hotel lounges, minibar, 32-channel TV in the rooms. However, rooms are excellent, newly constructed, all with separate toilet, bath and cheap! When you arrive, pls. inform reception that your rooms have been booked by Ballerup Karate, the reservation no G379 and your country/group name.
PLS. note – some countries have announce their arrival 1 before and/or leaving 1 day later than the original booking (21-24 April) we made last year with the hostel. This is a challenge since the hostel is full and our deadlines were not respected. This means, that some groups will have to change rooms for 1 night – concerned groups will be advised in a separately mail.
An overview of hostel facilities can be located at danhostel.dk you will also find link to other Copenhagen resources.
The hostel will be almost full, more than 1000 guests, so we are not alone.
Note that there is a simple restaurant (breakfast/lunch/dinner) at the ground floor, but with capacity for 130 people only.
The hostel is walking distance (500 m) from the Town Square, Tivoli, museums, discotheques, restaurants etc.
Breakfast is a buffet served for us at the ground-floor restaurant at the following times
Friday 21 April 08:00 – 09:00
Saturday 22 April – special arrangement
Sunday 23. April – special arrangement
Monday 24. April – 09:00-10:30
Tuesday 25. April – 09:00-10:30
Due to the deadline for transportation (08:00), limited capacity at the restaurant and other large groups staying at the hostel, we have made special arrangement for Saturday and Sunday. On these 2 days, there will be a breakfast bag containing a juice, rolls, butter/marmalade/cheese, yoghurt and fruit. You are welcome to sit down in the restaurant, take coffee/the there or in the lobby. Or take the breakfast with you for later consumption.
On all other days, there will be a normal buffet.
There will be an international meeting Friday evening at DGI-Byen, which is a 10 min walk from the hostel. Participants will meet at the hostel lobby at 18:00 and walk to the meeting room. After the meeting there will be a dinner for representatives in a nearby restaurant – pls. inform us how many will participate in the dinner from your country as soon as possible.
Details will follow.
Competition & Referee/coach meetings
Remember Saturday will be Youth competition and its going to be a long day. Sunday will be Cadet and Senior. Hopeful we will be able to finish earlier due to less competitors.
There will be a referee and coach meeting every morning at the competition hall – details will be given at the Friday evening meeting and announced in the sport hall.
It is possible to buy food, soda etc in the competition hall.
The famous Tivoli entertainment park is open from 11-24 only 5 mins walk from the hostel – see www.tivoli.dk for more information. We will try to post other areas of interest at our website – www. kofukan.dk
Pls. distribute this info to your teams.
Thank you and best regards
